Brisbane

Hey Fashionistas,

Day 2: Hello Brisbane!

We got up early to catch our 7 AM flight to Brisbane. Did you know that if you fly domestically in Australia the airport lets you bring outside water on the plane? That's sort of scary, isn't it?

Our next stop was Brisbane which was only a 2-hour flight. I told Hubby when we go to Australia I want to hold a Koala. I guess that's just one of those bucket list items everyone has. You might think about how difficult can it be to find a place that lets you hold a koala. It's difficult! I did some research and it turns out only two states let you hold a koala and each koala can only be held for 30 minutes per day.

The Koala Sanctuary is the largest koala sanctuary in the world and is located in Brisbane so of course, we had to stop for a visit. The park opens at 9:00 AM and I know that sounds crazy but we were arriving at the airport, quickly stored our luggage, called an Uber and drove to the park.

At 9:20 we entered the park and rushed to the koala picture line. Damn the line was already long and the park only offers picture opportunities twice a day.

Finally, it was our turn. The worker handed me a little fellow named Tango. He was 4 years old and the cutest thing ever. What a moment. Koalas are so cute - probably one of the greatest moments of our lives (well at least my life)!

The ticket also included a high-res professional printout and endless mobile pics.

After we held these cute animals, we continued exploring the park. The entrance ticket also included Kangaroo, Emu and Ostrich feeding. All you have to do is buy the food and walk inside the Kangaroo area. The kangaroos, ostrich, and emus are running around in this large cage - almost like a petting zoo. You are up close with Kangaroos!

After our food was fed to the kangaroos we kept exploring the park. The park offers native Australian animals. We also saw a bunch of Koala and Kangaroo babies. Right before the exit, we have seen the biggest bats ever! Wow, these bats are gigantic.

Once we were done we called an Uber to take us to the city. We found this low key ramen place which was absolutely delicious and also stopped for gelato ice cream. We got most of our souvenirs from the Koala Sanctuary but still stopped at some touristic souvenir places. In the evening we drove back to the airport to catch our flight to go to Syndey.

My resume: The koala sanctuary is a great place and in my opinion a MUST visit when you’re on the east coast in Australia. It’s a great opportunity to get up close with Koalas and Kangaroos but the ticket is not cheap. You have to purchase an entrance ticket and a kola ticket. Brisbane itself is a pretty city that is worth the visit.

Thanks for stopping by!
